Enterprise Software Testing

Enterprise software lives in a class of its own. The processes span many modules and departments, the system is woven into a web of other systems through countless integrations, the data is business-critical and often sensitive, and large numbers of users depend on it every day. In that environment a single defect rarely stays contained, it ripples across integrations and processes, corrupting data or halting work in places far from where it started, and the cost of that reaching production is measured in real business disruption.

Testing enterprise software demands an approach built for that complexity. We validate the long, cross-functional business processes from end to end, verify the many integrations that hold the system together, protect the integrity of critical data, and confirm the system performs and holds up under real enterprise load. The goal is justified confidence, that a system this important, this connected and this depended-upon will behave correctly when the business relies on it.

We test enterprise software the way the business uses it: following complete processes from one end to the other, across modules, roles and integrations, with realistic data, rather than checking features in isolation where the cross-system defects can never appear. Because these systems are so interconnected, we focus hard on the seams and the data flowing across them, since that is where the most damaging, hardest-to-trace problems live.

We also treat change as a first-class risk. Enterprise systems are constantly configured, upgraded and patched, and each change can quietly break a process the business depends on, so regression coverage is central to what we do.
